First Alert Weather Day Friday PM and Evening for the Threat of Some Severe Storms

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Just a few showers or storm, mainly early tonight. Friday will turn more active and is a First Alert Weather Day for the afternoon and evening, for the risk of some severe storms. Remain Weather Aware. The time frame, between 2 PM – 9 PM as we watch for a line of storms to develop, ahead of a strong cold front. All severe hazards at play. The main threat is damaging wind gusts 60-70 mph. Some spotty large hail, as well. While much lower, but not zero, an isolated, quick spin up tornado is possible. Additional rain of a half to over one inch expected. Any storm can produce higher amounts and downpours may lead to some localized flooding. Especially, after the rain we have already received this week.
