LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — The CDC reported earlier this year a nearly 24% decline, year-over-year, in the number of drug overdose deaths. A member of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Abuse Response Team (DART) says you can attribute part of the decline to the availability of naloxone, or Narcan as it’s commonly known.
Members of DART, as well as the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, had a walk-in event Thursday at the West Toledo YMCA, offering Narcan kits to people in the community.
“It’s very important because of the amount of overdoses related to fentanyl,” Karl Schwemley with DART said. “Narcan is the drug that can reverse that. It saves lives. It’s a very important program that we believe in.”…
