PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a Level 2/Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon for the entire FOX8 viewing area.
A cold front is going to sweep across the state today and ahead of the front, we are expecting a line of strong to severe storms.
The timing for severe weather is going to be between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The primary threats are from damaging winds and large hail. Isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Highs today will be in the upper-70s and the chance of rain is 60%.
Skies will clear out quickly behind the front, at least through the evening. By daybreak, we’ll have a period of cloudier skies with lows in the mid-50s.
During the day on Saturday, there will be a Level 1/Marginal Risk of severe weather as another cold front drops southward into the Piedmont. The chance of rain is only 20%, but anything that fires up in the afternoon may produce a warning. Otherwise, we’re expecting partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-70s.
By daybreak on Sunday, the second cold front will be well to our south. It’s going to be a sunny day with highs returning to the upper-70s…
