The Carolina Theatre of Greensboro presents special Pride Month screening of ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’

In recognition of Pride Month, the Carolina Theatre of Greensboro will present the 1999 satirical romantic comedy, But I’m a Cheerleader on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. Included in the movie ticket will be a live drag show hosted by Brenda the Drag Queen, and featuring Malayia Chanel Iman and Dana St. James. After the show, join in for Cheers & Queers where you can meet these fabulous queens in the lobby for cocktails and mingling.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Megan (Natasha Lyonne) considers herself a typical American girl. She excels in school and cheerleading, and has a handsome football-playing boyfriend, even though she isn’t too crazy about him. So, she’s stunned when her parents decide she’s gay and send her to True Directions, a boot camp meant to alter her sexual orientation. While there, Megan meets a rebellious and unashamed teen lesbian, Graham (Clea DuVall). Though Megan still feels confused, she starts to have feelings for Graham.

As seen on TLC’s hit show “My Big Fat Fabulous Life”, Brenda The Drag Queen is the triad’s own live-singing, shade-slinging, comedy monster. Greensboro’s reigning Green Queen, Brenda hosts shows from across the Carolinas to the islands of Mexico and is known for her standup comedy style and hilarious parodies…
