Denver Man Sentenced to 41-Months for Dacono Post Office Burglary and Firearm Possession

A Denver man, identified as Zachary Robert Rodrick Jones, has been sentenced to a 41-month term in federal prison on convictions including the burglary of a United States Post Office and being a felon in possession of a firearm, this was confirmed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. The 36-year-old’s guilty plea encompassed a series of events beginning with his role in the forcible break-in of the Dacono Post Office on April 6, 2022, where various postal items were reported stolen.

The plethora of items purloined from the facility included a computer terminal, a laptop, valuable scanners, printers, postal service uniforms, a trove of keys belonging to the service and, critically, seven personnel files and an array of postal applications, amongst other postal properties, United States Postal Inspection Service inspectors, upon contacting Mr. Jones on May 1, 2022, discovered in his possession not only a genuine postal service key but also stolen personal and business mail as well as a Smith & Wesson handgun adding to the gravity of his offenses given his status as a convicted felon…
