An officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles’ Olympic Division is currently under investigation by the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division. On the early morning of Wednesday, police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 1700 block of South Western Avenue. According to the LAPD, a suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Christopher Hall, was involved in the incident.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement was directed to an adjacent apartment complex where Hall had fled. He then entered a pathway, still carrying a handgun. The official report states that officers confronted Hall and ordered him to drop his weapon. Instead of complying, Hall reportedly pointed the gun at the police, which prompted an officer to discharge their firearm.
Despite the discharge, Hall was not hit. He proceeded to drop the handgun, which was later identified as a black airsoft replica, and attempted to escape by climbing over a nearby fence. An officer then deployed a TASER, causing Hall to fall and enabling his capture without further incident.
