Tehama County staff shares juvenile division program results, future plans

NORTHSTATE, Calif. — Advocates for juvenile justice are working to create opportunities for change in the system.

On May 29, the National Center for Youth Law hosted “Children Behind Bars: The Real Costs of Youth Incarceration,” a panel conversation with speakers sharing their experiences, going from being offenders as juveniles to getting out of the system.

“I spent eight years incarcerated in Orange County Juvenile Hall from the age of 16 to 24,” one speaker, Charlie Nguyen, said before adding, “All it takes is someone giving them the opportunity, someone believing in them when no one else would, that can push them to do great things.”…
