Fayetteville man sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for killing former friend

A Fayetteville man pleaded guilty earlier this month to the ambush killing of a former friend and injury of the man’s young stepdaughter at an apartment complex off North Reilly Road in 2022.

Rondell Marquis Easterling, 34, pleaded guilty May 22 to charges of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property in the Dec. 11, 2022, death of Bishop Tyrone Dwayne Rhone, 27, of Fayetteville. Easterling was sentenced from 21 to 26 years, three months in prison, according to court records.
