Mother accused of killing son said she was exorcising demons: SLCSO
FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A mother is facing a count of second-degree murder after she believes she was told by God to exorcise the demons out of her 6-year-old child, possibly leading to his death.
At around 10 a.m. on Friday, deputies with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) conducted a welfare check at a home near Bedford Drive in Fort Pierce. The welfare check stemmed from a tip from a school resource officer at Samuel Gaines Academy that a student had been absent from school since May 14.
In a news conference, St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro said, when deputies arrived at the residence, they were met in the driveway of the home by the student’s mother Rhonda Paulynice, 41, who escorted the deputies into the home and the child’s bedroom. That’s when deputies found 6-year-old Ra’myl Pierre lying on his bed, deceased.
Deputies say after speaking with the mother, they learned that she last spoke to the child on Sunday, May 18, which has led deputies to believe he may have been dead since then…
