COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — A portion of the Riverfront Park trail will close beginning Monday for approximately six months as the City of Columbia begins construction.
The project will involve the installation of barges in the canal and the construction of a cofferdam in the river on a new water intake system on the Broad River.
The closure affects areas downstream of the I-126 Bridge and the railroad trestle.
Trails at the north end of the park (4122 River Drive) and the south end (312 Laurel St.) will remain open, but visitors will not be able to walk the entire length of the canal during construction…
