Convicted felon accused of running from authorities with stolen handgun

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Authorities say a convicted felon was arrested on multiple charges in Evansville on Saturday after he attempted to run away from a vehicle that was stopped by sheriff’s deputies.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to use a turn signal at the intersection of south Governor Street and Bellemeade Avenue. The driver reportedly pulled over near the same location, but a passenger was seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

During the pursuit, a deputy reported the suspect discarded a handgun. Authorities say the man tripped and fell, causing minor injuries, but still fleeing afterwards. A deputy attempted to deploy a stun gun, but it was ineffective in stopping the man. Authorities eventually apprehended the man and placed him in custody without further incident…
