The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men, Marlon Alfaro-Alvarez, 28, and Floyd Amaya Garvin, 25, after deputies rescued a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly being held and exploited inside a Tampa motel room. Both suspects face multiple felony charges, including human trafficking.
The rescue unfolded on May 31, 2025, after the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the victim’s sister, who had received a voice message from the child indicating she was in danger at the A1 Motel. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Alfaro-Alvarez attempting to flee through a bathroom window; he was quickly apprehended along with Garvin, who was inside the room with the child.
An investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly communicated with the victim via social media, picked her up under false pretenses, and took her to a gas station before bringing her to the motel. Despite her repeated requests to go home, the suspects reportedly physically prevented her from leaving the room and offered her money in exchange for sex.
