Should Syracuse University pay more for city services? Mayoral candidates weigh in

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard is asking candidates who have submitted validated petitions to run for mayor a weekly issue-oriented question and publishing their answers. The candidates get up to four days to reply and must limit responses to 250 words or less.

This week’s question: The services agreement that has the nonprofit Syracuse University paying the city $11 million over five years will expire in early 2027. Is that adequate compensation for the city’s taxpayers? What would you prioritize in negotiations for a new deal?
