Owner in shock after two ‘suspicious fires’ destroy beloved West Michigan grocery store

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Crews battled a grocery store fire for over 10 hours Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Pennfield Township Fire Department, Emmett Township Department of Public Safety Fire Division and Bedford Charter Township Fire Department were battling a fire at Bailey Park Thriftway until 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

Eric Wing’s family has owned the grocery store for 25 years. He told News Channel 3 it’s devastating looking at the destruction.

“To not have it here, I didn’t realize we were so loved and now I see how special it was to have this,” Wing said. “Now that it’s gone, I have lost my job, my work family has lost their job, I’m still in shock.”…
