LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — MUSC Health will be expanding their Kids Eat Free at MUSC program this summer, increasing the number of free healthy meals provided for children across South Carolina.
The program, launched in 2015 at the MUSC Health-Charleston Division, is part of the federally funded, state-administered Summer Food Service Program. This program provides reimbursement to approved locations that serve free healthy meals to children and teens in low-income areas during the summer months when school is not in session.
Over the past decade, MUSC has served more than 52,000 meals to children and teens over summer break and volunteers hope to serve 52,000 more as they continue to work to address food insecurity in local communities…
