Proposed upgrades could change Kalamazoo parking zones, meters

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — New meters could be coming to Kalamazoo streets along with changes to free and paid parking.

They’re some of the changes under the 2025 parking update presented to Kalamazoo City Commission Monday night.

City staff and consultants preparing the updates said it all comes down to adjusting the rules and equipment to better align with parking demand.

Paid parking could be changed into free parking on parts of East Michigan Avenue. Streets south of Bronson Park would have base-rate parking. Under the plan, parts of Michigan Avenue, South Street and Lovell Street would have free parking instead of paid spots.
