Susan Sales is the only award recipient from NYC Health + Hospitals to receive the 2025 Regent’s Award
NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that Susan Sales, MPA, FACHE, LNHA, Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility, has been recognized as a 2025 Senior Level Healthcare Executives Regent’s Award honoree by the American College of Healthcare Executives – Healthcare Leaders of New York. Sales is the only recipient from the NYC Health + Hospitals system to receive this distinction for 2025. The HLNY’s Senior Level Healthcare Executives Regent’s Award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE. Affiliates are evaluated on leadership ability, innovative and creative management, executive capability in developing their own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the community, contributions to the development of others in the healthcare profession, leadership in local, state, or hospital and health association activities in civic/community activities and projects and participation in College activities and interest in assisting the College in achieving its objectives.
Susan A. Sales is a highly experienced healthcare executive with over 25 years of leadership in hospital and post-acute care settings within the Greater New York Area. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur, overseeing a 295-bed skilled nursing facility. In this role, she manages a $30 million operating budget and has led the facility to achieve top rankings in New York State, including a 6th place ranking out of 615 nursing homes by Newsweek in 2024 and recognition as a top-performing nursing home by U.S. News & World Report for eight consecutive years. Under her leadership, Gouverneur successfully returns over 400 patients annually to the community following rehabilitation.
Sales’ earlier roles include positions at Montefiore Health System/Schaffer Extended Care Center, Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester, Lutheran Medical Center, and The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Villanova University and a Master’s Degree in Health Policy and Management from New York University. She is a licensed nursing home administrator and has mentored aspiring nursing home administrators.
