Stanford student riding e-bike struck, killed by vehicle

(KRON) — A Stanford University student was killed over the weekend after he was struck by a vehicle while riding an e-bike on campus, officials announced Monday. Aradshar Chaddar was remembered as “fiercely ambitious” and “unapologetically original.”

Chaddar, who was a sophomore at Stanford, died early Saturday morning near Palm Drive and Arboretum Road, according to the school. Officials said the fatal crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

In a message written to the Stanford community, Vice Provost for Student Affairs Michele Rasmussen shared that Chaddar “explored a variety of academic and professional interests, including but not limited to membership in Alpha Kappa Psi and the Pre-Law Society.” The young man was also the current president of the Stanford Democrats. In his freshman year, he was a contributor to The Stanford Daily newspaper.

Chaddar was born in Maryland before attending school in Pakistan. His former school, Lahore Grammar School, remembered Chaddar as standing out “not just for his intellect, but for the depth of his thinking and the boldness of his ideas.” The school said it was his “academic brilliance” that earned him a prestigious scholarship at Stanford University…
