GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have announced charges in Grand Rapids’ first deadly shooting of 2025.
Keith Tett, 26, faces charges of open murder and felony firearm, the Grand Rapids Police Department said Wednesday. He is being charged as a fourth-time habitual offender.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. May 23 on Wealthy Street SE near Giddings Avenue SE, police say. According to GRPD, the victim — later identified as 31-year-old Montaness Lowe — was taken to the hospital, where he died.
“I would like to thank everyone who came forward with information that helped lead to these charges,” said GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom in a statement. “GRPD has exceptional detectives, but rarely can they make an arrest without people stepping up and speaking up. I hope knowing our community stood with them in seeking justice for Montaness brings his loved ones some measure of comfort and healing.”…
