Sac County shelter offers free pet adoptions June 7 for Adopt-a-Pet Day

Hundreds of animals across the region are hoping for a second chance at love this weekend, and Sacramento County is making it easier than ever for families to make that happen. On Saturday, June 7, Bradshaw Animal Shelter will take part in a statewide Adopt-a-Pet Day effort, offering free adoptions to help find loving homes for its many dogs, cats, puppies, kittens—and even a few rabbits and guinea pigs.

The event runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bradshaw Animal Shelter, located at 3839 Bradshaw Road in Sacramento. All adoption fees will be waived, thanks to a sponsorship by CalAnimals, as part of a unified campaign to reduce shelter overpopulation across California.

Each adopted animal will come fully vetted and ready to go home. That includes being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped for identification, and—if adopted by a Sacramento County resident—accompanied by a one-year pet license…
