Residents awarded nearly $38 million in Watson Grinding explosion trial

HOUSTON — A jury has awarded five victims of the 2020 Watson Grinding explosion in northwest Houston nearly $38 million, according to the attorney representing them.

On Jan. 24, 2020, a gas-fueled explosion at Watson Grinding and Manufacturing killed two employees and damaged hundreds of homes. A third victim who lived nearby later died from injuries caused by the blast.
