Mia Sara Returns to the Silver Screen After 14 Years
Actress Mia Sara, known for her roles in “Legend” (1985) and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986), recently graced the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of “The Life of Chuck,” marking her return to film after a 14-year hiatus.
Sara’s last film appearance was in 2011’s “Dorothy and the Witches of Oz.” In “The Life of Chuck,” she plays Sarah Krantz, grandmother to Tom Hiddleston’s character. The film, directed by Mike Flanagan, also stars Benjamin Pajak, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Hamill, Kate Siegel, Karen Gillan, Carl Lumbly, and Annalise Basso.
Sara admitted to Entertainment Weekly that returning to the spotlight was “a little daunting,” but also expressed gratitude for the unexpected opportunity. She revealed to People magazine that the chance to work with Flanagan specifically inspired her to come out of retirement.
Their collaboration came about after a casual meeting where Flanagan simply asked if she would ever consider acting again. Sara agreed on the spot if he offered her a role.
Now residing in a 17th-century English farmhouse with her husband, Brian Henson (son of Muppets creator Jim Henson), Sara enjoys horseback riding, reading crime novels, and cooking. When asked about future roles, she stated her commitment to working with Flanagan, saying, “If Mike needs me, I’ll be there.”
“The Life of Chuck” opens in select theaters on June 6 and nationwide on June 13.
