BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Mayor Brandon Scott’s office faced criticism this week from some members of the Baltimore City Council over a plan to move money from a taxpayer-funded nonprofit back into the Baltimore City government.
The Baltimore Children and Youth Fund (BCYF) is guaranteed taxpayer dollars each year allocated in the Baltimore City charter. Mayor Scott’s preliminary budget shows BCYF is set to receive $16 million in fiscal year 2026 — $7 million of which it will send to the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED), as first reported by Spotlight on Maryland in April.
