Property owners at Dockside Condominiums suing city over mandatory evacuations

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Many owners of property at Dockside Condominiums are suing the City of Charleston after they were forced to leave their homes within 24 hours in February.

The lawsuit says that the owners were all told to evacuate no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 28 without a hearing and claims there is little direct evidence that their townhomes were dangerous.

City officials at the time said a potential structure issue stemmed from a contractor inspection of Dockside Towers in 2022…
