Governor Shapiro fights for public transit in new budget

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro highlighted his plan to steer an additional $200 million to mass transit across Pennsylvania, calling it a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians.

Lou Diehl is vision-impaired and relies on mass transit. Although his vision is not perfect, he sees public transit’s value quite clearly.

“When I was 19 years old, I began to lose the remainder of my eyesight,” said Diehl. “Don’t look at it as an object or a problem to be solved. Focus on investment, connecting people to jobs, healthcare, food safety, and a variety of other opportunities.”…
