Toledo’s 89 unsolved homicides since 2020 leave families still looking for answers

TOLEDO, Ohio — According to the Toledo Police Department’s records, 89 homicide cases remain unsolved since 2020, leaving dozens of families still looking for answers years later.

Families like Everardo Cheno’s. On the evening of December 10, 2020, police say a masked man rang the doorbell of Cheno’s home. He answered the door and the person fired two shots, killing Cheno right in his open doorway. His case was never solved.

“Put a billboard up to get answers, tips. I wanted to raise money to put out a reward for some tips, too,” said Rosa Delgado, Cheno’s girlfriend, during an interview in 2020…
