Fort Worth’s “Continuing the Climb” Job Fair Serves as a Gateway to New Beginnings for Formerly Incarcerated Individuals

Fort Worth’s annual Continuing the Climb: Reentry Job & Resource Fair was more than a typical job fair; it was a beacon for new beginnings. Last Wednesday, hundreds flocked to the event, seeking to forge connections with employers and resource providers after having experienced incarceration. According to the City of Fort Worth, the fair gathered over 569 job seekers, including 41 veterans, who had the opportunity to network with 52 employers.

The fair not only provided an arena for employment but also tackled the holistic needs of its attendees to adequately prepare them to reenter the workforce. From professional headshots to sign language interpretation, the event catered to diverse requirements. “You are not defined by your past — you are defined by what you do next,” Greg Cater of Goodwill North Central Texas told the City of Fort Worth. Photos from the event showcased the eager participation, with attendants ready to engage with the various job opportunities on offer.

An element that particularly stood out was the Fort Worth Municipal Court’s Court in the Community program. This initiative enabled 17 individuals to successfully resolve a total of 58 outstanding warrants in an environment that promised no risk of arrest.
