NASCAR Legend Richard Petty Helps Authenticate Tribute Car on “Pawn Stars”

Racing legend Richard Petty made a special appearance on the hit show “Pawn Stars” to authenticate a tribute car built to resemble his iconic 1984 Firecracker 400 Pontiac, the car he drove to his 200th and final NASCAR Cup Series victory. The tribute car, complete with Petty’s signature on the dashboard, brought back memories for “The King” as he reminisced about the historic win at Daytona International Speedway.

The car’s owner hoped to sell the tribute car for $125,000. After authenticating the signature, Rick Harrison, co-owner of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, countered with offers of $80,000 and then $90,000.

However, the seller declined, jokingly stating his wife might “shoot him” if he accepted the lower offer. No deal was made.

Fans of the show were thrilled to see Petty on the program. Comments online expressed excitement and admiration for the racing icon.

One fan commented, “’Yeah, that looks like I done that’ 🤣 Love Richard Petty!” Another added, “Nice to see Richard Petty looking well.”

This isn’t the first time a race car has rolled into the pawn shop. In a separate episode, Harrison examined an IndyCar, complete with impressive racing history.

The seller explained the car was driven by Jimmy Kite in the 1998 Indy 500, finishing 11th. Despite the car’s provenance, Harrison ultimately declined to purchase it, citing a lack of market for such a specialized vehicle.
