Man gets 2 years in beating of developmentally disabled man at Bakersfield convenience store

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of beating a developmentally disabled man for holding up the line at a convenience store was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison.

Isaac Figueroa was immediately taken into custody after Judge John W. Lua pronounced sentence. Figueroa pleaded no contest earlier this year to a charge of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.

On March 1, 2023, Figueroa yelled at the man while standing in line inside a convenience store on Ming Avenue, according to court documents. He became impatient over the amount of time it was taking to buy an energy drink, documents said.
