Boston teen sentenced to prison for fatal stabbing sparked by social media feud

A Roxbury teenager was sentenced to more than a decade in prison Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter for killing a 21-year-old woman and injuring another teenager in Jamaica Plain in 2023.

Wilmary Mejia Matos, now 18, will serve 10 to 14 years in prison, followed by three years of probation, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden’s office said. She previously faced a charge of murder for the fatal stabbing of Brianna Brown.

The stabbing on Feb. 11, 2023 came after Mejia Matos, then 16, learned her boyfriend had videotaped them having sex and sent the video to another teenager.
