FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Almost 10 teenagers are now behind bars after being accused of being involved in the theft of 16 Kia and Hyundai vehicles in Fresno, the city’s police department said on Thursday.
The police department said its Career Criminal Auto-Theft Team (CCAT) arrested seven teenagers, ages 13 to 16, on Thursday. The arrest warrants were related to 16 stolen Kia and Hyundai vehicles and one commercial burglary.
Additionally, during the operation, detectives discovered one of the teenagers had a firearm on them. The suspects in this case are now facing multiple felony charges.
The news comes just one day after the Fresno Police Department announced the distribution of free steering wheel locks to deter the theft of these vehicles. The locks were provided to the Fresno Police Department by Kia and Hyundai…
