Carolina Country Music Fest gates reopen after lightning evacuation

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Carolina Country Music Fest grounds have officially opened after an hourslong evacuation due to lightning and severe weather, officials said on Facebook.

The gates were scheduled to open at 3 p.m., but the stormy weather pushed back the opening until about 3:45 p.m. The legendary group Rascal Flatts is scheduled to headline the opening night of the four-day festival along Ocean Boulevard.

It’s Day 1 of the 10th annual Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach

More than 40 top country music artists will perform on five stages throughout the festival, which continues through Sunday night. Gates open at 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday and close at 11:30 p.m. each night.
