A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly intentionally hitting a former roommate with his car amidst an ongoing feud.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian in the 500 block of Thomas Avenue at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The 911 caller was a passerby relaying information from the male victim who was struck. The victim told dispatch he knew who hit him, later identifying this person as 32-year-old Glenn Elwin-Staffo Cornell.
Upon the officers’ arrival, EMS was on scene rendering aid to the victim. In a preliminary interview, he advised that he not only knew who hit him but that it was intentional. He stated Cornell was driving a silver convertible Spider and hit him on purpose. He also gave the officers Cornell’s address of 2306 Butler St., cellphone number and explained how they used to be roommates, the report said.
The victim explained he did not know why Cornell hit him with his car, only that he tried to move out of the way and Cornell turned into him. He alluded to there being some kind of argument or verbal altercation prior to the incident, but the officers did not get specific details, the report said…
