STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A man led law enforcement on a short foot pursuit after he was accused of battering a woman and stealing her cell phone.
According to the Stuart Police Department (SPD), on Wednesday officers responded to a hotel where a woman had reported she was battered by her boyfriend the night before and that he had stolen her cell phone. Police say the victim had visible injuries. A search was conducted around the area, but no one was found.
The following day, Fort Pierce Police Officer Corey Lee, spotted the suspect, identified as Hector Martinez, near Monterey Road and U.S. 1. As Officer Lee approached Martinez, he fled on foot, leading to a foot chase. The Florida Fish and Wildlife officers were nearby and noticed the foot pursuit leading to them rendering aid…
