Young Sailor Vanishes from Navy Base

Additional Coverage:

Norfolk, VA – A young Navy sailor has vanished from Naval Station Norfolk, leaving her family frantic and authorities searching for answers. 21-year-old Angelina “Angie” Resendiz, a culinary specialist aboard the USS James E. Williams, was last seen at her barracks in Miller Hall on the morning of Thursday, May 29. Virginia State Police have classified her disappearance as a credible threat to her safety.

Resendiz’s mother, Esmeralda Castle, describes her daughter as dedicated and unlikely to miss work under any circumstances. “She shows up, no matter what,” Castle stated, emphasizing her daughter’s strong work ethic. Castle shared that Resendiz joined the Navy after high school, inspired by the possibility of one day cooking for dignitaries and world leaders.

Adding to the mystery, Castle revealed that Resendiz was reportedly last seen with another individual who also went missing, but later reappeared without Resendiz. The circumstances surrounding this remain unclear.

The Navy has confirmed its full cooperation with the ongoing investigation, led by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). NCIS has declined further comment, citing respect for the investigative process.

Anyone with information regarding Resendiz’s whereabouts is urged to contact NCIS.
