Tragedy Strikes Washington State as Three Young Girls Found Deceased, Father Suspect

Wenatchee, WA—A devastating incident has unfolded in Chelan County, Washington, leaving a community reeling. Three young sisters, Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia Decker (5), were found deceased near the Rock Island Campground on Monday afternoon. Their father, Travis Decker, is the prime suspect in their deaths and is currently being sought by authorities.

The girls were last seen on May 30th when they left their home for a scheduled visit with their father. When they failed to return, authorities were alerted and a search ensued. Decker’s vehicle was discovered abandoned near the campground, and the bodies of the three girls were found nearby.

As of Thursday, officials believe Decker may be traveling along the Pacific Crest Trail. Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant, keep their homes secure, and report any suspicious activity.

The attorney for the girls’ mother, Whitney Decker, revealed that Travis Decker is a military veteran who has struggled with PTSD and other mental health challenges. She expressed frustration with the lack of available resources for veterans, stating that the system failed both Decker and his daughters.

While there were court-ordered restrictions on Decker’s visitation rights due to concerns about his mental health, there were reportedly no prior indications of violence towards his children. The attorney emphasized that Decker loved his daughters deeply and had maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife.

The couple had been married for 10 years, meeting while Decker was stationed in Washington state. They lived abroad for several years due to Decker’s military service before returning to the Wenatchee Valley. According to the mother’s attorney, Decker’s PTSD worsened after leaving the military reserves in 2023.

Whitney Decker and her attorney are now advocating for improved mental health services for veterans and are working with law enforcement to address concerns about the Amber Alert system. An Amber Alert was not initially issued when the girls went missing, a point they believe warrants review.

The girls are remembered as vibrant and compassionate. Travis Decker is described as 5’8″ tall with black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a light shirt and dark shorts. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact 911 immediately.

Decker’s father is en route to cooperate with the investigation.
