Community leaders condemn Summerville club raid, calls for police to sever ICE ties

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A group of faith, immigrant, and community leaders and advocates hosted a press conference Friday in protest of the recent raid on a Summerville club that led to the arrest of 80 people.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, around 200 federal, state, and local agents conducted “Operation Last Stand” at the Alamo nightclub in Summerville. In the operation 80 arrests were made and according to a statement made Monday, they also recovered drugs, guns, and a missing juvenile.

The organizers of this event state that the majority of these 80 arrests were individuals detained solely due to their immigration status, though that has not been officially confirmed. They also say that any report coming from ICE should be treated with suspicion…
