Four Hooters restaurants close in Georgia as part of national downsizing

ATLANTA — The Downtown Atlanta Hooters isn’t the only Georgia location shutting its doors. Three others in Douglasville, Duluth and Valdosta have also permanently closed, according to updated information from the company.

The news follows Hooters of America’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in March. At the time, the Atlanta-based restaurant chain did not announce any closures. But this week, more than 30 Hooters locations across the U.S. were removed from the company’s website and confirmed closed.

Georgia closures include:

  • Atlanta (Downtown): 209 Peachtree Rd NE – closed after 22 years
  • Douglasville: 6855 Douglas Blvd
  • Duluth (Gwinnett): 3500 Gwinnett Place Dr NW
  • Valdosta: 1854 Club House Dr

Customers arriving at the Peachtree Street location this week found a sign announcing the closure, with directions to nearby restaurants on Cobb Parkway and Tara Boulevard, which remain open.

According to the company, the closures are part of a plan to sell all company-owned stores to franchisees and move toward a fully franchised model. No additional Georgia closures have been announced.

The company says it expects to complete the restructuring process within 90 to 120 days…
