City parks tops in state

ST. PETERSBURG — The city Parks and Recreation Department have once again been nationally recognized for their commitment to parkland preservation and recreational access.

In the newly released 2025 ParkScore index by The Trust for Public Land, St. Pete ranked No. 1 in Florida and No. 14 in the nation.

The annual index assesses the 100 largest U.S. cities using criteria that include access, acreage, amenities, equity, and investment. St. Pete earned especially high marks in equity and investment, receiving a score of 78 out of 100 in each category…
