Cobb Inmate Accused of Attacking Inmate with Caster Wheel in a Sock

Eerik Dontez Lay, 40, of Marietta, is accused of taking a caster wheel off of a mop bucket, placing it inside a sock and swinging it against the back of another inmate’s head on June 1 at 4:45 p.m. in a housing dorm at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to an arrest warrant from the sheriff’s office.

Lay was observed on facility surveillance camera swinging the jail-made weapon at the victim as they were walking up the stairs away from Lay. The victim sustained an approximately 2-3 inch laceration to the back of his head, requiring medical staff to glue the laceration closed, according to the warrant…
