Beloved Lakeland business closing after more than 100 years

LAKELAND, Fla. — After more than a century serving the Lakeland community, Marshall Jewelers is preparing to close its doors for good.

Bill and Carol Marshall have spent decades behind the counters at the family-run shop — a business originally opened as Adams Jewelers in 1921, and purchased by Bill’s parents in 1956. The couple took over in 1988, continuing a tradition rooted in craftsmanship, community and personal service.

“It’s just a very bittersweet thing,” Carol Marshall said. “We’ve done this for a very long time… you don’t miss the job as much as you miss the people that are connected with it.”…
