Fulshear police urge kids to stop jumping from bridge into lake with fertilizer runoff and gators

The Fulshear Police Department is urging children to stop jumping into a Fort Bend County lake due to water quality concerns and dangerous wildlife.

The department received reports of children jumping from the bridge at Skycreek Crossing and Cross Creek Bend Lane into a lake in Cross Creek Ranch, according to a public safety announcement on Facebook.

Fertilizer runoff, unseen rocks and sharp debris, and sudden changes in depth were among the dangers cited as reasons to refrain from jumping into the water. The lake is also home to animals than may become aggressive, such as water moccasins and alligators…
