LANE COUNTY, Ore. — As we start inching closer to the start of the summer months, temperatures start to climb further into warmer territory. We’ve remained rather steady into the 70s over the last few weeks. However, a steady ridging over Nevada and California has managed to bring significantly warmer temperatures into the western valleys. The warmer temperatures are expected to really pick up over the weekend with near record conditions. Our biggest chance at records is expected Sunday and Monday in the Willamette Valley while we keep it to Monday in the Umpqua Valleys.
It’s safe to say the temperatures along the coast are remaining steady as the Easterly winds aren’t helping bring warmer temperatures to our coastline. Still expecting to see the warmup but not as significant as the valleys. With warmer temperatures in mind, it is important to note water temperatures in local rivers still ranging from mid 50s to low 60s which can be shocking when jumping in during these warmer days.
