CORVALLIS, Oregon. – Oregon State University’s Cancer Advocacy Research and Experiences club hosts its Lights of Hope event outside the Memorial Union Friday.
The event saw CARE gathering donations and placing lit paper bags outside the building, dedicated to different loved ones who passed away from cancer.
The club, in its first-year on campus, wants to encourage people to talk about cancer, and help those who have been affected by it, to connect with each other.
“From personal experience I’ve had two family members who have passed along from lung cancer my grandpa and my mother,” said CARE Public Relations officer and OSU sophomore Charles Comfort. “Growing up, I’ve always looked for support, so just being connected with people who are willing to talk and support me has been really nice.”…
