Lookout PM: Driver of car that killed Sharon Schuman posts bail, Kotek reverses extradition decision

Today there was a major development in the case of Scott Stolarczyk, the man charged in the death of Sharon Schuman. Stolarczyk was arrested Thursday and booked in the Lane County Jail. Today, he pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter, a felony, and misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was released after posting bail, which was set at $175,000. His next court appearance is July 10. Jaime Adame has the story.

Meanwhile, Chamber Music Amici, the chamber music group that Schuman founded, holds concerts Sunday and Monday in honor of Schuman. Those were supposed to be her final concerts as a professional musician. Details are here.

Gov. Tina Kotek’s office initially declined to extradite two suspects in Texas wanted in Lane County and allegedly connected to a burglary ring that targeted Asian American households in the region. After blowback from the Asian American community, Kotek agreed to extradite one. Ben Botkin has the update.
