I also believe more roundabouts in Ocala would reduce traffic

This letter is an endorsement to Mike Hufhand’s Letter to the Editor on May 30. I am also from the city north of Indianapolis he referred to, i.e., Carmel, Indiana.

Carmel has over 170 roundabouts now and has reduced its traffic injuries by approximately 80%, significantly improved traffic flow, and has greatly improved conditions for pedestrians and cyclists, along with conserving gas for motorists and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in electricity to power intersection lighting.

I lived in Carmel all of my life until our move to Ocala and saw for myself the drastic improvements that roundabouts (and city planning) created. Keystone Avenue there, similar to State Road 200 here, became so much safer with their addition…
