Renovation of East Toledo’s Masonic Temple navigates funding challenges

Restoration of East Toledo’s Masonic Temple — initially anticipated to be completed in late 2024 — has come to a standstill, as developers navigate funding challenges.

Ambrea and Kevin Mikolajczyk, owners of ARK Restoration & Construction, bought the building at 401 Main St. in 2022 from the Lucas County Land Bank. They planned on converting it into 42 senior affordable apartments and introducing storefronts on the ground floor.

The Mikolajczyks previously renovated the Wonder Bread bakery, a project which began in 2020. The couple converted the former factory into 33 loft apartments and a commercial office space, and have since been recognized for by the city for their efforts…
