FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Junior Alex Holder jarred a 25-foot putt for eagle on the third playoff hole as the Bishop Dwenger standout edged Homestead’s Caden Baker for sectional medalist honors Friday afternoon at Chestnut Hills.
Holder and Baker both shot a -5 (67) to qualify for the playoff. Homestead’s Holden Orofino (69), Ryan Parker (71), and Landon Snyder (72) rounded out the top five individual finishers.
Homestead shot a 279 as a team – setting a new program record – to clinch the sectional team crown, winning by a whopping 24 strokes. Dwenger finished second at 303 while Canterbury came in third at 309. The Spartans, Saints, and Cavaliers will all advance to regionals next Thursday at Stonehenge in Warsaw…
