Man shot, critically injured in downtown Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, in downtown Charlottesville.

According to a Charlottesville Police Department news release, officers patrolling the Downtown Mall heard gunshots and found the victim on the 200 block of Third Street. He was transported to UVA Medical Center in critical condition.

Investigators found 30 cartridge casings at the scene as well as gunfire-inflicted damage on an unoccupied building and three nearby vehicles, according to the news release…
