Emergency demolition ordered after fire at vacant apartment building

A vacant apartment building in Dayton will be demolished after a fire early Saturday morning, according to a spokesperson with the Dayton Fire Department.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6, the fire was reported in the area of Ridge Avenue and N Main Street around 4:50 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the 2-story vacant apartment building at 1939 and 1941 Riverside Drive.

Firefighters had to battle the flames from outside the building due to advanced fire conditions and the possibility of collapse, the spokesperson said…
